Chocolate Banana Wraps

These chocolate banana wraps are wonderful for so many reasons! To jazz them up you can sprinkle any type of nuts or even dried fruit on them. You can cut them into “fruit wraps” for easy, healthy snacking. You can roll them with about any kind of filling inside, well shoot, you can do about anything with them! Be creative! When I made these last time, I made some plain, some with cacao nibs sprinkled on them and some with almonds. You sprinkle on whatever you want before them sliding into the dehydrator. I hope that this recipe inspires you to get creative with new dessert or snack ideas! :)
Ingredients: yields 4 cups
- 8 bananas, ripe
- 1/4 cup flax meal (grind your seeds in a coffee grinder to a powder)
- 3 Tbsp raw cacao powder
- 1 Tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
Preparation:
- In the food processor combine all the ingredients and process until it is nice and creamy.
- Spread 2 cups of batter on the non-stick teflex sheets that come with your dehydrator. I use the Excalibur nine tray machine.
- Optional: on one tray I sprinkled cacao nibs on top before sliding it into the dehydrator.
- Dehydrate on 105 degrees for approx. 8 hours. Every once in a while check in on it. You know it is done when you can carefully peel the “wrap” off of the teflex sheet. If you have any “wet” spots on the back side, flip the wet side up and continue drying for another hour or so.
- To store: lay out a large piece of plastic wrap, lay the chocolate wrap on the plastic and roll it up, tucking the sides underneath.
The wrap above is made plain, no nuts, no nothing!
This is what it looks like when it is dry.
This wrap was sprinkled with cacao nibs just as I was sliding it into the dehydrator.
