I really love making raw porridge breakfasts.  Not only are they a breeze to make, they are so nutritious.  This mornings combination…Almond Raspberry Porridge didn’t lack any flavor.  It was amazing, and I would love to encourage you to give it a try.  I know you won’t be disappointed.  Growing up you couldn’t keep me away from fresh produce.  I was always sneaking off raiding berry bushes!  I specifically remember back when I was, oooh about 11-12 years old and I was visiting my great grandparents.  My little girlfriend, Bonita, and I would ride our bikes all through out the small town.  We had a goal…who could ride the longest staying on the tar lines that filled the cracks in the pavement.  We were easily entertained, what can I say.  This particular day I lost because I was sidetracked by a beautiful raspberry bush that was situated behind the local clinic.  I peddled over near the bush,  looked in all directions,  and positioned myself on the ground behind it.  I then proceeded to eat my fill of fresh raspberries.  “I am sorry little clinic, it was me!  I confess!”  :)  I would eat them till my belly ached.  Ah, I love those childhood memories.

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup raw gluten-free oats
  • 1 cup almond milk or water
  • 3/4 cup raspberries (1/2 blended, 1/4 for topping)
  • 1 Tbsp chia seeds
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1 scoop Sun Warrior Raw Protein Powder, or your favorite protein powder
  • 1 Tbsp slivered almonds
  • 1 Tbsp raw almond butter
  • 3 dates, pitted

Preparation:

  1. Blend all ingredients together in a blender until smooth, except for the chopped portion of the raspberries and slivered almonds.  Pour into a medium-sized bowl.
  2. Set aside for 1 hour or overnight if you have hectic mornings.
  3. When ready to eat add the slivered almonds and raspberries.

    This was wonderful. I modified a bit – used cranberries instead of raspberries and coconut milk instead of almond. It was so yummy! Don’t you just love the pink color?

    And I forgot to say that I used my first freshly-rolled raw oats. It was a lot of fun rolling them and much cheaper than buying truly raw rolled oats. :)
