Vanilla Bean Infused Raw Agave Nectar

This delicious, do-it-yourself vanilla infused agave nectar is a wonderful addition to have in your kitchen pantry.  It’s a great way to impart a hint of vanilla to your favorite recipes.  You can use your favorite jar or bottle, keeping it for yourself or sharing it as a gift.  I have been drinking a lot of kombucha these days which has left me with a slew of glass bottles.   I have been soaking off the labels and reusing the bottles for various things.  I ended up using one for this project as well.

I don’t use agave all the time but on occasion when I am building a recipe and I want a neutral sweetener, I do turn to agave.  I have found that I really like the Xagave brand the best.  You can order it here if interested.

Ingredients:

  • raw agave nectar
  • 3 vanilla beans or left over vanilla pod halves from recipes that used only the seeds

Preparation:

  1. Place vanilla bean pods in container and  fill with agave.
  2. Enjoy this great tasting, low glycemic syrup however you see fit!
  3. Store in your pantry and keep adding additional agave as needed.

Over time the vanilla beans will start to lose their potency.  You can discard them when this happens and add more beans.  I don’t keep track of how many vanilla pods I add.  In time I just keep adding more agave and pods as I use them up.

    Thanks so much for your beautiful website. I was wondering how many ounces of agave you are using for 3 vanilla beans?

      Hello Sathya…. I don’t have exact measurements on keeping this recipe going. I used a 10 oz glass jar and 3 beans, but it really doesn’t matter… I keep adding more pods and more agave while I use it. I never worry about the ratio between the two. Does that make sense?     Hello;
    Great recipie, I will try it right away. I am an agave lover, and I wonder if you have any other recipies like this.
    I have found in the market that there are some agave with certain flavours such as cinnamon, or other (for me less attractive) like almonds or hazelnut.
    Have you made some other infussions with agave.

      I have always meant to Mauricio but haven’t. I would be fairly easy though. I would put cinnamon sticks into a bottle of agave… that would be heavenly! have a wonderful evening, amie sue
