Chocolate Spiralina Power Balls *for the extreme “green” lover*

FavoriteLoadingAdd to favorites

The Chocolate Spiralina Power Ball. OMGosh….This is one intense cookie. And when I speak of intense I am referring to the “green” taste of this cookie.  Personally, I like this cookie but it takes a real lover of “greens” to adventure into this one.  I almost didn’t post for fear that no one would try it…but there a few of us out there that do in fact enjoy to tastes of greens.  My mother for instance… She loves  green juices without any sweeteners or fruits to tone it down.  The ingredient in this recipe that is very green is the spirulina.  Even preparing this recipe,  I managed to get green powder all over.  By the time I was done mixing the batter is was as thick as thick can be and it was so dark green that it appeared to almost be black.  This recipe is packed with nutrients and like I said, I like it.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 cup  raw almond meal
  • 1/2 cup raw cacao powder
  • 3 Tbsp spirulina powder (It is a blue-green algae)
  • 1/2 cup raw agave nectar or maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup finely ground coconut, unsweetened (used for outer coating)
  • 1 cup of raisins
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Preparation:

  1. First make your raw almond meal but placing the almonds in the food processor and process until it turns into a mealy flour.
  2. Combine all the ingredients in your food processor.
  3. This batter is very thick and sticky.  I recommend chilling in the fridge prior to attempting in making cookie shapes or balls out them.
  4. Place the finely shredded coconut in a bowl. Working with a teaspoon of dough at a time, roll into small balls and coat with the coconut nut.
  5. Dehydrate for 8 hours at 105 degrees.  Store in airtight container in the fridge for up to several weeks.

Some of the health benefits of Spirulina are

• Encouraging weight loss
• Counteracting toxins in the body
• Helping purify the liver
• Increasing mental alertness
• Lowering blood cholesterol and excess triglycerides
• Helping fight viral infections
• Treating radiation sickness
• Enhancing ability to generate new blood cells
• Improving blood sugar problems
• Strengthening the nervous system
• Strengthening the immune system
• Removing toxic metals such as lead and mercury from the body
• Improving healing of wounds

Just made these!! Delicious! Was a little skeptical due the the fact that spirulina has such a strong flavour! I used 90% chocolate. Was very impressed. Was looking for another way to use spirulina instead of in shakes all the time! Thanks and good job..:)
