Several months ago (hangs head in shame because this took me so long) a sweet woman by the name of Daniel emailed me and asked for a recipe, a raw recipe that would replicate commercial suckers. I was stumped, I tried several different ingredients and techniques but just couldn’t seem to re-create the hard candied commercial suckers. But, I never gave up and found myself continually racking my brain on how to do this. She has a sweet little girl who really wanted to have a sucker like her friends. So, Daniel, this recipe is for you! I hope you try it and I am sitting on pins and needles with my fingers crossed to see if you approve of this raw treat.
Now, I realize that this doesn’t really come all that close to the “real deal” of hard, sugared, suckers… however it is one of my goals is to find fun and creative ways to provide healthier treats for kids (and my husband who is the biggest kid I know). The standard ingredients found in everyday suckers include; sugar, light corn syrup, water, flavoring oil and food coloring. These lollipops are made of fruit. Sorry, the list is short… that’s it… fruit!

Thank you for this recipe. I would never have thought of it! Thank you also for taking the time and trouble of presenting all this food in such an inspiring way. The photographs, never mind the food, are amazing!
Thank you Amanda… Have a wonderful day! amie sue
This recipe looks awesome! My daughter loves suckers as well and I’m looking forward to trying this. However, what is fruit leather?
Adela, please see the links I attached or this one… http://nouveauraw.com/fruit-leathers/ That should explain everything. amie sue :)
Hi Amie Sue,
I’ve been scouring your website for a bit now. I really love all the recipes that you’ve made available. You’re really talented. I’m responding to this recipe post to add my own two cents to your already wonderful idea. Have you thought about dipping these in your hardening chocolate recipe? Obviously there’s no way to create a truly hard candy lollipop without heating sugar, but dipping the fruit leather pops in chocolate would give a more solid outer coating that could be licked for a bit before reaching that chewy center.
Yvette, I am a head of you… I developed a recipe 2 weeks ago, dipping these in chocolate. hehe I just haven’t released the post yet. I don’t want to bomb-bard everyone with releasing to many recipes at once. I can’t wait to share it, they taste amazing!
This is fantastic!!! Perfect for my daughters Birthday at school!!!
Hi Shawna, PERFECT! That is just what I had in mind when I created these… that they would be great for kids parties. I hope they are a hit. amie sue
Dear Amie-Sue,
I’m a big fan of your website, and today was really happy, when I found out about this lollipop recipe. Yesterday my 2 years old daughter saw a boy holding a lollipop and asked me to buy one for her. That was a first time, ’cause I don’t gave her such things, and I resisted. But I promised her to make her healthy lollipops. What a joy was to find a recipe on my favorite website! Thank you a lot!
Anna
OH Anna, that is just as sweet as can be. Please make these for your daughter and let me know how she likes them. I made them with little ones in mind and it would bring me great delight to see them being enjoyed. hugs, amie sue
