Nourishing and Quick Juice/Smoothie Recipes
Add to favorites
I created this post to give you some fresh ideas on how to produce fruit and veggie flavor combinations. In general, I find that most fruits and veggies blend (or juice) well together, but you want to be careful with the green bitters if you are new to this. They can quickly overpower a recipe and turn your smile upside down.
How to Reduce Bitterness
Bananas are the go-to when it comes to blended drinks. They are excellent for covering the taste of greens if you have a hard time getting it down, and they create a thick creamy texture. Make sure your bananas are ripe, this is when your body can digest them, and they are nice and sweet. I let the bananas ripen on the counter; then, I freeze them. To freeze them, you will want to peel them first, lay them out in a single layer on a baking sheet, freeze them, and once solid place them in a large freezer-safe container. This process makes it easy to always have ripe bananas on hand and makes the smoothie creamy and cold. To learn how to create smoothie without bananas, click (here).
Fresh Lemons are another great item to add to green drinks to help reduce the bitterness. You can add them to smoothies or green juices. Fresh lemon juice is much better than the store-bought. But use whatever you can at the time. We want our drinks to nourish our bodies as well as taste delicious!

what juicer do you think is best for quick & easy clean up? i currently use a Kenwood juice extractor JE600, which makes great juices, but cleaning the machine is a bit of a nightmare, as it has multiple parts to clean, etc.
I see you have lots of options for veggie shredders, just wondering if you have recommendations for juicers. the easier the use and cleanup, the happier camper i am! lol
thanks!
Hello Mc Girbaud,
Personally, I use the Omega VRT350 and have for about 5-6 years. I have yet to feel inclined to look for anything better so that says something. It will juice hard root veggies, fruits and greens. I don’t find it hard to clean at all… but then we all have different perspectives on what is hard or easy to clean. https://nouveauraw.com/equipment/blenders-juicers-accessories/omega-vrt350-heavy-duty-dual-stage-vertical-single-auger-low-speed-juicer/
Have a happy camper day! ammie sue :)
Hi Amie-Sue, quick question, when you add your ripe, frozen bananas – are you putting the frozen banana pieces into your juicer and juicing them? I add frozen bananas to my blender for a smoothie but I’ve never used them in juicing?
Good afternoon Penny,
I don’t juice the bananas. I would either make a smoothie with them and the other fruits/veggies. OR you can juice the other produce items, then out in the blender and blend in the banana. I hope that helps. Blessings, amie sue :)
Can I just cut open the avocado seed and drop it into the juicer?
Good evening,
I don’t recommend it because it could damage your blender… even a high-powered one. If you want to add it to the smoothie, I would wrap it in a towel and break it in smaller pieces by hitting it with a hammer. Blessings, amie sue
Can’t wait to start making the juice recipes. Thank you
Wendy

Hi Amie, what are “finger bananas”?
Hello Mickey… they are a different breed of bananas. You can google them, but here is a link to get you started: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lady_Finger_banana
