~ raw, vegan, gluten-free ~
I have been challenged to create some raw “fast food” for a dear friend of mine. Her family hasn’t focused on a raw food lifestyle in the past but is now looking for ways to add healthier choices into their diets. Yay! I couldn’t be more tickled to take on such a challenge.
Overwhelmed with their chaotic mornings rushing to get out the door, a morning energy booster was in need. So, I got out my pen and pad (AKA Mac Laptop haha) and got busy creating some smoothie recipes that would be energy creating, great-tasting, belly sustaining, and easy to prepare.
Now I realize that there are hundreds of formulas that can be used when creating smoothies. But this one and a handful of others that you will find here were designed for their health benefits and your taste buds.
I also designed this recipe so that it can be made up ahead of time and kept in the fridge for up to 2-3 days, or it can be frozen for 2-4 weeks. So, keep in mind that you can make as many of these up ahead of time in freezer-proof mason jars, which will give you raw “fast food” for breakfast! Just mix up the flavors to create variety.
Have a long and busy day planned tomorrow? Take one out of the freezer and place it in the fridge. Come morning, grab the one out of the refrigerator to drink for breakfast, and then grab one out of the freezer to take with you. By the time noon rolls around and you start to get those hunger pangs or a simply a drop in energy level… your smoothie will now be defrosted and waiting for you. Give the jar a shake and slurp up! Enjoy!

Wow! That’s so similar to what I’ve been making lately in fact I as drinking one as I read the post! 1 x T cocao, 1 x tsp maca, 250ml almond milk, 1 x banana then blend. I reckon mine’s even faster than yours. It has been a life saver for me in my premenstrual time. Sometimes the only answer is chocolate!
Thanks for sharing Valeria… goodness, anything to help us through premenstrual times. hehe Have a great evening, amie sue
why is it pink?!
Pink is the new tan? lol I had the wrong photo attached somehow. It is fixed. Have a wonderful evening, amie sue
Love the quick recipes like this
Me too Julia… not only do we need a balance in foods we eat but also in the complexity of recipe techniques. hehe Have a wonderful evening, amie sue
Can you tell me where the pink comes from. Thanks
he wrong picture was attached. This has been fixed. :)
Just a question about the oats. I have never used oats and am almost 80% raw. I would like to use them but I do no know which to use.
Good evening Denise,
I have some companies listed on this post that sells them and what to look for. I hope this helps. If you have more questions, just let me know. :)

Looks delicious ! Can whole raw oats be used or do you need to use rolled or oat groats?
Good evening Christi,
Oh by all means, if you can get raw oats, use those. :) Enjoy! amie sue
I just made this smoothie. Wow is it delicious!! Thank you!!
Thank you so much Jacki for letting me know how it turned out. I really appreciate the feed-back. :) Have a glorious evening, amie sue
I’m SO making this… but wouldn’t the chia seeds make it too thick? I remember that’s what happened to another recipe… I left it in the fridge and then I had to eat it with spoon! :P
I’d probably do my own substitutes and use raw milk and dates, instead of almond milk and stevia :)
Thanks for all your wonderful recipes, Amie-Sue…
x Angie
Your welcome Angie… I didn’t seem to have the problem, but by all means, use less if you wish too. Enjoy and be blessed! amie sue :)
Hi Aimie-Sue,
This recipe looks great and I love the fact it can be made ahead for convenience. I was wondering if your other smoothie recipes could be frozen or refrigerated for a ready made grab-and-go breakfast option?
Many thanks :)
Most can Louise… any smoothie is always best when consumed right away but freezing them is an option. :)
Hi Amie-sue,
Would I be able to substitute a different sweetener for the stevia, such as honey, raw sugar or dates?? If so, how much should I use??
Thankyou :)
You sure could Michelle. It will all depend on how sweet you like your smoothies so just add a little and taste test till you reach the level that you like. amie sue
