Movement “Lifestyle” Challenge

Good day everyone! I hope this posting finds you all well. Today, I put out a challenge on our members Facebook page…. so here I am extending it to you too! I am calling this challenge, “Movement Lifestyle Challenge.” Personally I need encouragement and support in moving my body daily. I am a busy-body in general, but I  don’t take time out of my day to exercise.  Therefore, I am reaching out to all looking for that encouragement and accountability.

So here’s the scoop…

I referred to this challenge as a “lifestyle challenge”… not a two week, one month, six months, or whatever challenge.  I think you can all agree on the importance of movement (daily movement!), but for many people, life, stress, busyness, (insert excuse) keeps us from fully loving and caring for our earthy vessels. Therefore, I think it’s safe to say that this challenge has no expiration date.

I would love for ALL of you to join me… it doesn’t matter what level of exercise you do or can handle… all I ask is that you make a strong daily effort to move your body. Hardly have time even to clean your house? Turn house cleaning into exercise; Vacuum with Vigor, Scrub n’ Squat, Wipe n’ Wiggle! Lol, Love to be outdoors? Weed the flower garden, bending with purpose up and down, up and down, work those quads. This concept gets a well-needed task done, and you get exercise. Walk, jog, run, jump rope, rebound, and/or hula-hoop!

If you have any physical ailments, work with what you have. Do what you can, but do it with intent and purpose. This isn’t a competition as to who is doing what, it’s nothing but gentle, loving encouragement and support. It’s a place for all of us to lean on one another.

I know Nouveauraw is a recipe site… but movement is just as important as the foods we eat, so I felt this was a safe place to seek out others who just want a bit of accountability in bringing intentional daily movement into their routines. So with that said, what do you think? If this interests you, please comment below. You are welcome to share your situation, challenges, encouragement, support, ideas, etc. I ask that we lend a hand of love through it all.

To kick this off, I started today. I moved my body for 30 minutes. I put some upbeat music on and did some rebounding for one song, hula-hooped (with a weighted hula-hoop) for another, rebound for one song, hula-hooped during the next… rinse and repeat for 25 minutes. For the last 5 minutes, I stood on a vibrating machine to shake any tense muscles out. Mr. Milo (the pup) just stared at me with those, “what the heck are you humans up to now?”  eyes. lol

P.S. There is NO pressure in joining the Nouveauraw Members Facebook group (I know many of you don’t do social media) but if you haven’t joined us over there and wish to, click (here). I will be posting my daily movements and interests there, and hopefully, others will follow suit. Actually, some already have. It’s just an excellent way to get more real-time feedback and support.

    Hi Amie Sue,

    It’s been a long time since I’ve been on your website. I just want to say I am with you on Movement “Lifestyle” Challenge, but not on F.B.. I haven’t been in contact with you for a while now because so many things have happened here & now I am in a recovery mode. I fell in my backyard on concrete 3 months ago. I sprained the MCL in my left knee and the doctor said something about the ACL is injured. I found out we have three compartments in our knees and in all three compartments of mine I have Severe Osteoarthrist, so I am really ready to make a Lifestyle Change. I don’t want surgery at all!! So I have to do some changing on my own. I go to the physical therapist twice a week and he helps, now I just have to make a dietary change, along with exercise. And because I’m 71 it’s harder, but I’m ready to begin. SO I’M WITH YOU!!!

      So good to hear from you Jeanette!!! Though I am sorry to hear about your tumble. My goodness, that was quite some fall. My mom just took a spill two days ago and ended up fracturing a bone in her leg. Eeek. So, bless your heart for all that you have been going through. I am glad that you have PT to help guide you through recovery. Keep that up so you don’t reinjure yourself.

      But I am glad that you are with us on the Movement Lifestyle Challenge. It takes a lot to regain and maintain health. Movement, our food, our mental and emotional wellbeing… we can just do one, we have to work on all aspects of it. So be kind, be gentle, to yourself through this process.     Kudos to you both for the commitment as well as the hula-hooping. I am good on movement, but can’t hul-hoop for love not money. Keep up the good work…

      Thank you SBS… I had to take a break today from the rebounding and hula-hopping… I was sore when I woke up. haha So today I did gentle stretching to honor my body. Keeping that hula-hoop UP is challenging at times, most of all it makes me giggle. lol Keep up the movement! blessings, amie sue

    Good idea. I will go biking on my old ten speed until the snow comes. Also, am digging up sod for a new garden bed. Good luck with your challenge and I hope everyone can join in. I do not belong to Facebook.

      Those activities sound perfect. I actually love the snow. I do all the plowing and shoveling and love it! It gets me in nature, clears a well needed path, and I get exercise! I shared with Jand above that I am doing daily check-ins within the Facebook group and I will try to do them here weekly. If your not on FB, that’s ok… whenever you leave a comment here I will chime in. Stay safe! Oh, and yes, I took that photo from our back porch. We live in Oregon and it’s just yet another gorgeous place on this planet of ours. hehe blessings, amie sue

      Yay! Glad to have inspired you Jand. When it comes to daily movement, I liken it to our daily dietary needs… Everyone is on an individual journey and where we enter in will always be different. I don’t ever want a person to feel that their daily best isn’t good enough. We all start somewhere, whether that be bending over and touching your knees or bending over and touching your toes. Stay encouraged and keep me posted. I am doing daily check-ins within the Facebook group and I will try to do them here weekly.     Thank you for the inspiration. I’ll be glad to join in. I’m to the point where I need to stop talking about it and JUST DO IT! I’m so tired when I come home but will start out really slow but will START!!! Thank you

      Oh Jann, I know what what you mean. I have talked about it over and over in my head… need to move, need to exercise, yadda yadda and the days, weeks, months just keep slipping by… now’s the time. A while back I read a saying, “One day or day One, you decided.” Let’s do DAY ONE! And yes, start out slow, be kind to your body. If you push too hard too fast you can injure yourself which will only further delay you need for daily movement. :) What do you think that you will start off doing? (keeping you accountable) hehe. blessings, amie sue

    Great inspirations!
    I don’t know if it’s change of season or what but, I just committed to “boot camp” at my health/tennis club a few times a week. Need to work up to more time and power as I get back to workouts!
    Also walking the hills in HR more with Frankie, the pooch! If you’re downtown, come do the stairs with me… I’ve been a slug lately so your jolt is welcome. Good idea Re: The weeding etc as workout 😊 Thanks and woohoo! C

    I have discovered that there are two times in the day that my mind and body are ripe for activity…..first thing after morning coffee, and late afternoon…..knowing this, and if I take a pass on the AM, my mind gathers determination to really settle matters for that late afternoon workout.

      It’s great to know your body like that Richey. Mornings are my best time. I found if I do a lot of activity later in the day, it affects my sleep. Thanks for sharing! blessings, amie sue
