New Site Feature – Site Color Changer

LoadingFavoriteAdd to favorites

Good afternoon everyone,

I am still taking care of my dad as he recovers from his quadruple coronary bypass. But soon I will be home and back in my recipe creating rhythm.  If you are new and your not sure what I am referring to, please click (here) to read about my current situation. Thank you once again for ALL the love, support, prayers, and understanding. It means the WORLD to all of us.

In the meantime, when I have some quiet time while dad is resting, I have been working on some fun site stuff! For a long time now Bob and I have been looking for a system that we could integrate into NouveauRaw that would let a reader have control over the colors of the site. The reason that we started dabbling with this idea was that we had several people over the years voice their struggle with not being able to read light text on a black background.

Now with a push of a button, magic can happen! On the left menu bar, towards the bottom, you will see the words “Background Color” followed by a black button and a white button. Just push the buttons to select which color of background you wish to have for your NouveauRaw experience. Now come on, you have to admit that that is pretty darn exciting. :)

And here’s the Scoop on the ONE-TIME Popup.

In order to make everyone who visits the site aware of this feature, we have to do ONE popup. It’s not my first choice but we couldn’t figure out any other way to quickly notify all the members and visitors of this feature. It’s my heart to make Nouveau Raw an enjoyable, peaceful, and mouth-drooling experience., so for sure, this popup will only be experienced ONE time, then never to be seen again.

Let me know what you think. I love hearing from you. Have a blessed day, amie sue

    Hi Amie Sue,
I’m so glad your Dad is doing so well!
Thank you for giving me the ability to have a white background for your wonderful print! This will make it much easier to read the every thing and print more legibly.
    Good job!
Hugs & blessings to you and your Dad,
    Penny

You are so welcome Penny. :) I am glad that it helps you… that is why we did it. I really appreciate the feedback, it means a lot to know that it is making a difference for someone. The printing shouldn’t have ever been an issue. Even with the site on the black background, it printed white. Were you experiencing something different?

Have a blessed and happy weekend. hugs, amie sue

          Thank you Penelope. :)

I need to ask a question regarding the printing. You shouldn’t have been getting a black background when printing. Can you please tell me how you were printing the recipes? Where you hitting the “Print” button at the bottom of the recipes or is there another way that you were going about? If you could answer these for me, it would be a great help. :)

          blessings, amie sue

The dark background used so much black ink when I waned to print info.
I pray you and your Dad are doing well and you’ll have a wonderful weekend.

If I may suggest… there is a place, in the printing settings, where you can print without the background so your printer will just print normally without the black background.

I don’t understand why a black background is even coming up when printing. When I click on the Print button at the bottom of the recipes, it comes up with a white background… always has.So odd.

    Hi Amie Sue,

So glad for the good news about your dad’s recovery. Keep them coming!
Just logged into the “nouveauraw” site and played with the two backgrounds. Such a cool idea. I honestly did not have any problem with the black background, but the white one seems to me more…”luminous”, maybe more inviting, more Amie Sue, and…why not, more fun. :>)). Big Congrats for the idea. Love it and I will use it.

    • amie-sue says:

That’s just awesome GG. Thank you for letting me know your thoughts about it. I love both colors but I seem to go back to the black. Perhaps a person could change it up according to ones mood. White for those energetic days and black for the days where you want a more calming effect. :)

Dad is doing very well. I took him to his first followup appt. yesterday and she was very pleased with his progress. Everyday shows progress but its slow… as one can expect.

Have a blessed weekend, amie sue :)

That is great that your dad is recovering…

As for the texts and background colors, I really love it with black background… white backgrounds hurt my eyes… too bright. Your colors are very soothing :)

    • amie-sue says:

Thank you for leaving a comment Amyah. I too love the black better but for those who struggle with eyesight issues… well, over time they expressed that it was hard to read. So, in order to make Nouveauraw a peaceful and welcoming place for all… we spent the time and energy to do that very thing for everyone who visits. :) Have a blessed weekend. amie sue

  4. Hi Amie Sue:
I know that you will be thrilled to be home. There’s no place like home, is there? . . . especially when it’s as lovely and tranquil and peaceful as yours. I’m praying that Jesus will give you strength and courage to go through this time of the unknown for you, and wisdom to know what to do and how to do it in working with your dad.

I personally LOVE the black background. It’s MUCH easier on my eyes, and quite elegant actually in presenting your beautiful recipes. I’m glad that you have offered a choice, though, as some people will enjoy the white and perhaps add more readers to your site.

Blessings of friendship to you my friend! You are such an inspiration!

    • amie-sue says:

Thank you so much Nancy. You are always so sweet and loving. I so appreciate you and the prayers. Dad is doing good. I took him to his first follow up appt yesterday and the doctor was happy with his progress. :) For me, this has been very trying time on all levels YET it so many wonderful blessings have come from it. All the prayers and support helped give me that extra strength to face each day. And they have helped dad every step of the way!

I personally love the black background too. But it’s nice to have the option for those who struggle with it. Always trying to make Nouvearaw a pleasant place for ALL. :) Thank you for sharing that though, it means a lot.

Well, off to do some household stuff for pa. love and hugs my friend. amie sue

    Amie-Sue,

Glad to hear your father is recovering.

I’m trying the white for awhile just to see. It does seem more relaxing to my eyes.

But, just between you and me, when I first read ‘color choices’, I was pondering pink and purple. Hahah!

    Mary Anne

    • amie-sue says:

lol Pink and purple? hmmm now that would have been colorful. :) I find myself toggling back and forth depending on my energy level, if that makes sense. :) Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it. amie sue
