Raw Peppermint Kisses were created from the same batter as my raw candy canes. But just in case you are not even faintly interested in candy canes, I didn’t want you to miss out on the fun of creating Raw Peppermint Kisses.
I quickly decided that this was a great time to use my culinary Peppermint Oil. It contains numerous minerals and nutrients, including manganese, iron, magnesium, calcium, folate, potassium, and copper. It also contains omega-3 fatty acids, Vitamin A and Vitamin C. Whereas that all sounds fine and dandy, facts such as those don’t “speak” to many people. But this will get the attention of some; it did me. :) … Peppermint oil is beneficial as an aid for digestion.
You can put a few drops of peppermint oil in a glass of water and drink it before your meal for its beneficial digestive properties. It is known to be a carminative and therefore helps in removing excess gas. And it can relax the smooth muscles of the GI tract.
Peppermint oil is also an excellent home remedy for nausea and headaches. To quickly alleviate the pain of a headache, apply peppermint oil in a diluted form directly on the forehead. I often add a drop of peppermint oil to a dab of coconut oil between my palms, rubbing them together and then applying. Inhaling peppermint oil can eliminate the effects of nausea because of its relaxing and soothing effects.
There are so many other therapeutic uses for peppermint oil, and if it fascinates you, I encourage you to do further reading. It is a great oil to have handy in your pantry.
These raw peppermint kisses remain chewy, and if you throw all of them in a bag, they will stick to one another. But they do pull apart just fine and are really fun to eat. I made the mistake of leaving a dehydrator full of them on the table to cool as I was preparing my next creation to use them in (Raw Peppermint Kiss Ice Cream) and when I went to retrieve them, about half of them had been consumed by, I am guessing, little elves. Hehe, It’s all good though… to know that they were enjoyed is really all that matters to me.
could i use beet root powder in this? if so, how would i create the juice?
Hi Suzi,
Sure, if you have beet powder use that. You might need to add a tad bit of water. Just start with 1 Tbsp worth. You won’t need much. To make beet juice you can use a juicer or you can blend some beets with water in a blender and then strain it out through a nut milk bag. Don’t use the beet pulp, just the juice. If you do this method, chop up the beets before adding them to the blender. I would start with maybe 2 peeled, red beets and 1/2 cup of water. See how that works. Blessings, amie sue
why is it not good to use a whole beet?
Hello Anna, I only used the juice for the coloring and if I were to use the whole beet, the flavor might be too strong. amie sue
Now I know all about peppermint kisses
Thanks
Wow! This looked so easy and yummy that I just had to give it a try.
I just cleaned everything up and turned on the dehydrator. I can’t wait until they’re done, but this made a TON! Over 150, but I have to admit I need a lot of practice with the cookie press (don’t have a piping bag). Anyway, they taste great, and they’re a great excuse to make the ice cream. Maybe for Thanksgiving.
Thanks again for what you give to the rest of us.
Your welcome Jeani and thank you for the sweet comment. So glad that you are enjoying these. I made them last year around the holidays and kept them in a bowl on the counter. Everyone who walked by them would pop a few in their mouth. It was fun to have around. :) Have a blessed day, amie sue
Just had to try this recipe…. just turned the dehydrator on and can’t wait to taste them. The beet juice made a mess and I need to practice piping… some of my ‘kisses’ looked more like turds! LOL Thanks so much and I’ll be trying some other awesome recipes on your site soon!
lol Irmeli… you gave me a good chuckle today. :) Thank you. Piping does take a little practice but you will soon get the hang of it. The beauty with this recipe is that you can practice with the batter and just keep scooping it back into the bag. :) I have been teaching someone piping techniques this past week… I am using date paste with him for that very reason. hehe Have a wonderful day, amie sue
Good evening Amie Sue,
I just placed 2 trays of Peppermint kisses in the dehydrator and I am so happy! The batter tasted devine and my daughter and I kept ‘taste testing’ 😛
I can’t wait to bring them with me to work on Monday!
I didn’t have beet root juice so I used a little over 1 Tbsp beet root powder and 1/4 cup water. Worked like charm! :)
Good evening Veronica,
Mmmm, I think I can smell them from here. hehe That batter is pretty darn tasty for sure. I am impressed that you even got them in the dehydrator. :) I would love to hear what those at work think. Thanks so much for sharing how you use beet root powder and water. That will help others who might end up in the same situation.
Blessings and have a wonderful rest of the weekend. amie sue
Hello Amie-Sue,
I am thinking to prepare some good treats (that are not chocolates :) ) for my colleagues for Christmas and these kisses are just perfect and very easy to make … wondering if I can make a batter that is white and dehydrate it in the same shapes…they will look great together as red and white … Do you have any suggestion? Thank you so much!
Good morning Daniela,
These kisses are easy and fun to make. Your colleagues will enjoy them. :) White raw candy is hard to come by. I will share some other white(ish) treats that would be nice with it, but they aren’t “candies”. I hope this gives you some inspiration. Please let me know. :)

Thank you! I went with the Christmas Butter Spritz Cookie they are in the dehydrator now! Couldn’t stop tasting them from the dispenser, specially the “butter” cookies…. I made them with cashews flower only as I did not have any almond white flower on hand but they are AMAZING! I am sure I can convince my son ( a 6-year old picky eater) with them, not only my colleagues:).
Well that was quick. hehe Please keep me posted what everyone thought of them. Enjoy! amie sue
