raw vegan Apple Butter Spread on raw bread
~ raw, vegan, gluten-free, nut-free ~

Apple Butter Spread is a great staple to have in the fridge.  It is wonderful on breads, crackers, in smoothies and even in porridge recipes.  Not to mention just eating it just by the spoonful when the munchies set in.

The ground chia helps this spread to set up.   I used Pink Lady apples which really lends a scrumptious sweet taste.  So when you make this recipe just keep in mind that the type of apple that you use will affect the flavor.  You also may need to adjust the sweeteners that you use based on the level of sweetness of the apples.   Enjoy, amie sue

Ingredients:

  • 3 apples, cored, peeled, rough chopped
  • 2 Tbsp raw agave nectar
  • 2 Tbsp date paste or 2 Medjool dates
  • 5 tsp chia seed, ground
  • 1 tsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground Ceylon cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ½ tsp ground clove
  • pinch Himalayan pink salt

Preparation:

  1. In a blender combine the apples, agave, dates, lemon juice, ground chia, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt. Process until smooth.  The butter will thicken as it sits due to the chia.
  2. Store in a glass jar in the fridge for up to 5-7 days.

Thank you for sharing your information with me and all the others who are trying to stay healthy.
This morning I had one of your Fennel Citrus Smoothie.
I added 2 Tbls. of almond butter but was afraid to add chia and flax seed too. Would it have worked?
The smoothie was very good, even my daughter liked it.
    Thank you.

Hi Olga…. Glad to hear that you and your daughter enjoyed the smoothie. Why were you afraid to add the chia seeds? They always add more nutrients! :) amie sue

      Good afternoon Joan,

I am sorry that it took me a bit to respond to you. I have been on a “walk about” for the past 6 weeks (see blog posting). I am not fully integrating back into things but I wanted to start tackling some of the questions that have been collecting. :) All that to say, I appreciate your patience with me. :)

Thank you so much. Your kind words really bless me. Have a wonderful day, amie sue
