Good day my fellow health seekers. I just wanted to give you a quick update as to why I haven’t released any new material as of late. I intended to reach out sooner, but it wasn’t till now that I found a spare moment to do so.
My grandmother is in the hospital, facing the end of her life. Her situation came on quick, and I took the earliest flight to Alaska so I could be there with her and my family. I am so blessed to be awarded these moments with her (however long it may be), and I feel such gratitude for the precious moments that I am experiencing with my family as we huddle together in support of one another.
Today, after dropping my grandfather and mother off at the hospital door, I went to park the car. The Fall weather here is cold, it’s been raining nonstop, and the sky is heavy with a mix of clouds and fog.
With my hood up, my scarf tight around my neck, my hands drawn up in the sleeves of my coat, I kept my chin tucked down as I leaned into the rain. Walking briskly with my eyes focused on the ground, I came out of a “daze” (lost in thought) to find myself in the midst of the most beautiful colored leaves that had blanketed the parking lot.
Due to the current situation, I usually stay focused on the tasks at hand, but I was overwhelmed by the beauty that laid before me. I stopped in the middle of the parking lot without looking to see if cars were coming, crouched down in the rain, withdrew my hands to cradle my phone as I took a picture.
Once I got everyone situated in grandma’s hospital room, I pulled my camera out and told grandma that I took a picture of a leaf. I felt like a little girl who just saw her first puppy. Lol Grandma rolled her eyes at me, and in a sarcastic tone, she found the strength to say, ” OOH BOY! A leaf.” She wasn’t impressed. Lol UNTIL, I held my phone before her eyes. As she looked at the photo, she pulled it close to get a better look… as she studied it, her face softened as she whispered. “ooh isn’t God amazing, that is beautiful!” Grandma WAS impressed after all. :) It’s these small moments that tug at my heart and are burned into memories.
Once I return home, I will be back in touch, but until then, please continue to enjoy the recipes on the site and if you would send some prayers, positive thoughts, positive energy, and/or love our way. blessings and love, amie sue
Sending prayers and love to you and your family as you embrace this challenge with your beautiful open heart.

Thank you so much Barbara, I really appreciate that. hugs and blessings, amie sue
Thinking of you and your family during a difficult but blessed time together. Praying for peace and comfort. We learn from each season don’t we? Every season, though some may be difficult we can find beauty. Thank you for sharing. I smiled.
Boy, we sure do Marla! I have always been a believer that blessings can always be extracted from every situation and because of that I was able to slow down and take in the beauty of what was surrounding me. This creates a memory, for when the day comes that Grandma parts from us, I will be reminded of her every time I see the Fall leaves. A smile will be on my lips and my heart will be flooded with that very peace that I felt at that very moment. :) blessings and hugs, amie sue
Sending prayers of comfort for all of you. The leaf is beautiful. Treasure these moments you all have together.
Thank you, Joan. I am doing that very thing! :) During the plane ride over here it was really pressed on my heart to relax, to slow down and take each moment in knowing that she is in the right hands of the heavens. It’s so easy to let the pain and stress of the situation to override all the monumental blessings that are taking this place… I am soooo thankful for every step of this journey. hugs, amie sue
Sending lots of loving thoughts and prayers to you and your family.
Thank you so much Kathleen… we all appreciate it. blessings, amie sue
Amie Sue, thank you for sharing such an uplifting and beautiful story with us. It’s a good reminder that we are surrounded by beauty in our ordinary, everyday lives, but we have to remember to notice it. Things like the vibrancy of nature and the support and closeness of family are too often taken for granted. I am so sorry that you are facing a tough time with your grandmother’s health, and my thoughts and prayers are with you. Again, thank you for sharing a bit of your soul with your readers.
Thank you Suzanne. I find that when I am really “present” during moments like these… I find that comfort surrounds us in ways that are so easily overlooked if we are not grounded in the moment. There is always pain when a loved one leaves us but I am at peace no matter when her time comes. She is at peace and knows her Maker… with that, I can rest, I can be present with her and those around me, knowing that she will be called home when it is her time, her pain will fade, and she will become whole again. In that, I rejoice! Thank you for your loving words, hugs. amie sue
I hope she gets better soon
Thank you, Esther. I am not sure what the future holds but we are cherishing the moments we get daily. :) blessings, amie sue
These moments are worth keeping. Hold her hand and ask her questions about her childhood or how she and your Grandfather met, or the birth of your parents, things that we don’t think about until our later years. Even her favorite pets, songs, foods, jobs, raising of her children, memories or you and just favorite memories in general. Recording it would be a keepsake also, thankfully you just recorded a precious moment :) Praying for you and your Grandma.
Oh Stacy, I so agree! They came to our home last Christmas. I knew it would be the last so we spent a lot of time talking about the past, memories, etc. I learned so much! But I will keep it going. She can talk a little but she tires quickly. I am the family “keeper” … the sentimental one so I will be sure to record things. Thank you for the reminder and prayers. hugs, amie sue
May the Lord God bless you and your family! The Lord is good and you sharing this is blessing to me not to mention others that may be going through a difficult time. Please tell your grandma that Jesus loves her very much! May the He give her the peace that only He can give, the peace that surpasses all understanding! In Jesus great and mighty name we pray. Amen!
Thank you very much Geno. I will share your message with her today. She seems at peace and that blesses me so much. We appreciate your prayers! hugs, amie sue

Hello Amie-Sue. I sent you a previous email sending you and your family love, light and blessings during this time, but as it was a return to one of your emails, I’m not sure that you received it as yours could have been an automatic sending. I just want you to know that we keep you and your family in our hearts and in our prayers. Sometimes in times like this, I find that if I just stand out in nature and open my heart that the blessings just abound. Our thoughts are with you, thank you for sharing this personal time with us, blessings, Annie
Thank you Annie for reaching out and sharing your words of encouragement. I have been slow to reading and responding to anything electronic. But I wanted to acknowledge your message and let you know that it means a lot. hugs and blessings, amie sue
