Pastry and Decorating

I believe that there is a pastry chef within all of us, and that includes YOU! The secret in creating beautiful raw presentations is all about knowing how your ingredients respond to manipulation. Raw ingredients perform entirely differently from classic pastry ingredients. I have spent hours scanning through beautiful photos of decorated cookies and cakes, and I honor the artistic talents it takes to create them. But those artists have access to ingredients that we do not. And therein lies the challenge. Learning how to dye frostings with natural food-based colors, learning how to create a frosting that I can sculpt, or even just create a smooth fondant-like sheen, is a whole new art form. I realize that this will take time, as well as lots of experimentation. So join me as I take this journey through the land of Raw Decoration. blessings, amie sue
